The charity selected this year was the Martin Severance Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution’s PCC Women’s Veteran Scholarship Fund. The event raised $20,000 for this fund. The PCC Scholarship was started over four years ago to raise funds for a scholarship to support women veterans returning. When thinking of veterans most people think of men. Women are the shadow veterans and are ofttimes forgotten, no more.
Featured guests included Carol Calandra, PCC Veterans’ Center, and scholarship recipients Yingtong Hao (US Army) and Kaytlin Pham (US Navy) having served in war zones. Numerous local professionals with a desire to support women veterans attended.
The Scholarship closes the gap so veterans are not forced to make the difficult choice between tuition and books; or, housing and eating.
